Wagering board claims NYRA vote inappropriate
The state racing and wagering board and state franchise oversight board say NYRA’s election of a new president and secretary is entirely inappropriate and violates regulatory standards.
Yesterday, NYRA announced that its former Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Ellen McLain, was elected president.
Acting counsel, Kenneth Handal was named secretary.
They replace Charlie Hayward and Patrick Kehoe who were fired after a state report found NYRA failed to pay bettors $8.5 million in winnings.
