Dance dream coming true | News
Twelve year old Emily Kasinger is naturally light on her feet. And today, she's walking on air. The young dancer from Missouri was on cloud nine after her flight to Albany.
"I was so excited to go see professional ballerinas," she said beaming.
The aspiring ballerina was about to see the New York City Ballet at SPAC. The 'pinch me' moment began when Southwest Airlines Pilot Gary Hooyman - a mentor in Emily's classroom through the Adopt a Pilot Program - read her essay about her big dance dreams on a flight in the spring.
"When I can get someone in the back, write to them in their career field, then I got a match," Hooyman said.
The co chair of the ballet gala just happened to be on the samw flight to California. Andrea Spungen was touched by the wish and a match was made.
"So I wrote her back I love this story, I was an aspiring ballet dancer and that's how it went," Spungen said.
Andrea and the airline set up the trip of a lifetime for Emily. She'll get time back stage with her idols and a private lesson.
"When I'm dancing I feel so happy because I get to express feelings in a different way from talking," Emily said.
Saturday night Emily will trade in her pink tutu for a gown at the famous ballet gala. She showed off her beautiful black-tie gown with sparkles
But it couldn't compare to the sparkle in her smile as she gets a foot in the door - or rather - a toe up on stage with these stars.
"I hope they will help me improve my dancing a lot," she said.
